The dry leaves may be smoked in a pipe. They must be smoked at a high temperature and the smoke must be deeply and rapidly inhaled to feel it’s effect. Since salvinorin requires a high temperature in order to vaporize we suggest holding the flame right above the leaves, lowering it into the leaves while inhaling.
The leaves can be smoked in a short tobacco pipe, in a bong or a steamroller pipe. Fill the tobacco chamber with the leaves. Avoid matches and only use butane lighters that put themselves out automatically. We also recommend the use of a big ashtray or a a bowl that isn’t easily overturned were the pipe must be placed after smoking.

Remember, it is easy to forget that your pipe is still in your hand once you have “Taken Off”, and droping it could cause injuries or fires. It is best to smoke with someone around who can prevent these accidents. The first effects will occur approximately one minute after inhailing, and will gradually fade after 5 to 6 minutes.
The actuall “trip” can last from around 30 minutes to over an hour. The extract-enhanced leaves may also be smoked but we do not recommend to try them alone, always have a sitter beside you. The leaves can also be vaporized, and the extract can be placed in a vaporizer that heats without burning. Beware, the vapor can be misleading! As very little smoke is formed, it is easy to unwarily inhale a strong dose. DO NOT try this alone!
Most commercial vaporizers used with cannabis do not work for Salvia. It is easy to build your own vaporizer for Salvia but vaporizing is recommended for expert users only especially if pure Salvinorin is used. Unless carefully measured Salvinorin can be extremely dangerous as it is easy to overdose. The dose that one intends to vaporize must be carefully weighed with an instrument capable of weighting microgram doses(one millionth of a gram).
